Wargame: Red Dragon

Post by Nefaro on Wed Feb 11, 2015 12:51 pm

I see Dukely picked this up sometime recently. On the current midweek sale??

Any of you other gentleman have it? We could do some Co-Op against the AI sometime, it can be pretty fun with lotsa 'splody-ness.

I did some Co-op and Team Vs with AirLand Battle that was enjoyable. I've not devled into Red Dragon much yet but it's basically ALB with even more toys.

It can be difficult at times, but I really like it. Played a couple games of it with a friend this weekend. I picked it up on Humble Store for $14 only to see it go on sale today for $10! Damn Steam! Would love to get some vs. AI games with anyone interested!

Don't think I've even created my own personal "decks" of units in Red Dragon yet.

But I had plenty experience from AirLand Battle to be familiar with everything. Except the naval side. But, being a Harpooner since childhood, both tabletop and digital, I'm familiar with the equipment and how it's supposed to work.

I like the deck building, then playing a few games and making some changes here and there.

Yeah.  The force customization, combined with the huge amount of hardware available to choose from, really makes the game.  The easy UI and seamless zoom also helps a lot.  If it were just moving predetermined squads & vehicles around on the map in the RTS, I wouldn't enjoy it near as much.

It's a nice getaway from the more demanding UIs and commands in stuff like Steel Beasts Pro PE, Graviteam Tactics, and the Combat Mission series.  While Wargame makes compromises in scale and relative equipment strengths, all the goodies are still based on real world equipment and behave appropriately.

I just need to devote some time to playing the latest one.
