Insurgency

Post by Nefaro on Wed Jan 21, 2015 11:21 am

I see that Dukely owns this multi-player shooter, but didn't know if he has tried it or whether anyone else has it.

While I've not been into first-person shooters much in recent years, it's more due to what has been on offer than any special aversion. The more realistic "tactical shooters" are my thing, not all that run-n-gun bunny hopping nonsense. As a result Red Orchestra 2 has been about the only one I've done recently. While I have ARMA 3, it seemed like too much work finding the right server or group to play with since the ARMA series servers seem to be highly variable and rather scattered in scope or intent. There's something to be said for overall uniformity and being able to just jump into matches quickly.

This one sounds like it's worth a look for these reasons. I recall having a lot of fun with one of the Counterstrike-inspired offshoots many years ago so perhaps this will inspire some of that.

That's about the only use I expect to get out of any FPS these days. I normally tend to gravitate towards War Thunder when I want to aim & shoot at someone with the mouse but an occasional diversion could be welcome.

Hi, I'm not sure about the insurgency game... saw a few videos of it, and it seem's ok.
On my part, I did play a lot of Arma 2 on different servers, and I must say that some operations were really incredible.
I did a lot of sniping or special force missions, and the feeling of getting shot at after giving your position is really high.

I know that Insurgency is -70% at this time on Steam. It's the top seller in the special sections.

If you ever want to play Arma 2, let me know.

I'm waiting for this game to get less expensive : Close Combat - Gateway to Caen

I had great memories playing PvP with this game. Wink

Cheers

Insurgency for a budget is never wrong. It isn´t a perfect game, but pretty enjoyable. Very "counterstrikish" with larger maps, semi-realistic quick death, surpression and gunplay and still fast paced. And it has good coop. which in my eyes makes it worth the pick.

the playerbase is sometimes a bit shooterlike-derpish

Dunno.. checked out the training part.  Does seem rather Counterstrike-ish but my aim was all over the place.  Either I'm rusty or I needed to do some serious mouse sensitivity adjustments. The running and such still seemed pretty old school.

I should probably just stick to Red Orchestra 2 and the ARMA stuff.
