Were You Happy or Unhappy With DD Squadron Flight Operations Last Week?

Post by SeaLord on Wed Jan 21, 2015 7:53 am

I would like to know how everyone felt (good or bad) about how flight operations went last week for the Dukely Ducks Squadron. Please respond here with comments and suggestions for improvements, alternative or additional training event times, etc.

I am considering scheduling flight training every Saturday. I have to admit that Saturday is the most convenient day for me to fly, but I realize others have different schedules and some live in far away time zones. I am also free on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from about 2300 to 0100 UTC, but I do not believe that that time would work for DrZebra and Tailmange. Sunday can be tricky for me because that is sometimes the day for "family dinner night."

I also want to open a discussion about tactical doctrine for the squadron. If we can get good turnouts for the Vintage Missions, we may actually be able to attract new squadron mates and really explore tactics.

Thanks,
SeaLord

I think it all went well, maybe be a bit more restrictive with the voice comms next time.

Yes, I agree. We should have switched to the bomber channels. It is too tempting to use it when it is on.

Also, if the rear gunner is not busy with fighters, it would help for the gunner to keep his guns pointed at the target to give the pilot a reference direction to look to reacquire the ground target. I kept losing track of it when I looked away to maneuver.

Sorry about shooting your tail off at the beginning. I hope that is not the reason why you did not bring bombs. I will be gunner for you again and you can try a level bomb run.

I did not realize that the Bristol bombsight is different from the usual bombsight. It was a shock when I went to look at it.

Hi SeaLord,

I'm with Dukely, went overall well...
I think that TS3 must be used only by recons and bombers (in each channel).
When on ground, pilots can speak freely on TS3 from the officer mess channel.

On the other hand, I think it would be good to meet up a few times on smaller server to work on formation flying and taking turns on targets.
This seem's to be the biggest problem or flaw for our squadron.
I've been viewing the Jasta groups ( 2 and others ), and they seem's to be flying always 2 or 3 planes at the same time, and most of the time near the NML.
They send one or two planes first on targets and keep some up to look out for other planes coming in.

Well, that about it for my report! Wink
Cheers
Gen
