Looking to buy very soon a TrackIR - any suggestion for price and quality?

Post by GenMarkof007 on Wed Jan 07, 2015 10:32 am

Hi all,

After playing a few nights in the multiplayer servers, I found out many times that a TrackIR would help a lot on my flying and my 360 vision!
Since I'd like to buy a TrackIR very soon, I'd like to get your reviews or choices on the best product (including price) on the market at this time.
Also, after viewing a few site that sell's the product, it seem's that some are selling a TrackIR Pro product with a TrackClip http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/product-TrackClip-PRO.html.
What do you think of this product?

Thanks to all for your replies and views.

Cheers
GenMarkof007

p.s.: if you have a link to your products, feel free to add it to your comments.

When I got my TrackIR5, I added the extra headset clip thinking I would use that.

While it worked fine, it also added some extra hassle that I didn't appreciate.  For one, it uses an extra USB slot and you have a second wire to contend with besides your headset.  Secondly I don't like wearing headsets if I don't have to so when I'm not using voice in my sims (which is often these days) then I'd rather just use the clip-on reflectors that go on the rim of a cap.  They're notably lighter, don't have an extra line running to them, and my headset still fits over the cap when I use it.

It may look odd when I'm using it (fortunately in the privacy of my own home), but I got one of those sun visor caps that is just a band with the visor to use the clips on.  I may look like a bearded lady on the women's PGA tour but it's comfortable and doesn't make my head any warmer than I'd like.

Thanks Nefaro for the great review and your insight on how you look while playing ROF! Wink
If you have a model TrackIR5 or a website that offer the product, please feel free to send them.
I'm trying to find the best place to buy it from!

Cheers

The Natural Point TrackIR is the only brand available to my knowledge. I agree with Nefaro its best to use the hat clip it comes with. I have mine on a super lightweight hat that lets my headphones go over easily. Best place to get it would be from Amazon. Got mine from there.
