Possibly it was really distorted for 3-6 minute sections.

There were others complaining about the framerate dips and such while we were on the server that day, too. I'm sure it contributed issues to some extent.

As Nefaro likes to say, "Sweet baby Jesus on a stick," I won the Ilya Muromets! I have asked that it be awarded to Tailmange, so I have to see how that works. If all goes to plan, Tailmange will get a free Ilya and I am going to buy one for myself!

If you haven't read the thread on Rise of Flight, please do. I had a lot of fun with everyone on Sunday. I would do this all the time if I didn't have to go to work 5 days a week.

Wow, cool! That is great.

I´m really impressed with what came out off our a little bit ad-hoc decision to fly, so many vids, stories and even a contest winner.. it just shows we really need to fly more together!

I couldn't agree more. The more flying together the better.

I agree...
Me and SeaLord saw yesterday that it's not easy on multiplayer server just communicating to take off when the airfield is full of players! Wink
But what a feeling pounding down and enemy airfield with one ei plane trying to take off!
Cheers

Should be doing a few fly out today around 19 UTC or 2pm Eastern Time Wink

Ok, got to do my chores. I have to iron my shirts for the coming week, by order of "She Who Must Be Obeyed."

Late in the Ost Front Vintage mission, I took off from the Austro-Hungarian scout airfield and spotted three Ilyas in a V formation at about 2500m over the airfield. I saw no other planes in the sky or taking off from the scout field. I made a long climbing spiral to reach the altitude of the Ilyas and engaged them. In the excitement of having three Ilyas all to myself in a Vintage Mission, I collided with one of them and lost my wings and crashed. Undeterred, I brushed it off and jumped into another Halberstadt and executed another long climbing spiral to reach their altitude again. I made several firing passes to get the engines of at least two of them smoking. Unfortunately, my engine was hit and my goggles became partially obscured by engine oil and I was having great difficulty in just flying in the general direction of the bombers.

It was at this point, just as I was closing in for the kill, that the Russians triggered their dastardly secret weapon--the Mak'tar stealth haze!* The bombers became completely invisible, and only the sound of their engines remained in this dimension, kind of like the smile of the Cheshire Cat. Of course with the oil on my goggles, I was completely befuddled. Only when I later viewed the flight record did I realize that the Russians had developed this heretofore unknown advanced technology.  Maybe it is a weapons mod?

Needless to say, this incident has been reported to the intelligence service of the Fliegerarsenal of the Kaiserliche und Königliche Luftfahrtruppen.

* I avoided capture by using your Mak'tar stealth haze.
--The character Quellek in the movie Galaxy Quest.

Here is a video I unearthed of the incident:
